Expressive E Osmose review

Review: The Mac-ready Expressive E Osmose is the multi-gesture 3D keyboard controller of your dreams

Not all MIDI keyboard controllers are made equal and the new Expressive E Osmose is a great example of this. Now available stateside, the new 3D gestural music instrument and controller is ready to grace home studios, live performances, and professional sound stages everywhere. If it’s not the best MIDI keyboard controller out there, it is certainly one of the most interesting, not to mention being an incredibly compelling standalone instrument. Taking on the form of a traditional piano setup, it is anything but traditional in its execution. Head below for our hands-on impressions of the Expressive E Osmose 3D gesture-based music controller and instrument.

GymKit makes the gym sync with Apple Watch

So here’s a cool thing. Yesterday, I rejoined my old gym at the YMCA. It’s $64/month instead of $10/month at Planet Fitness, but that includes two hours of childcare – must-have for a single parent.

Anyway, it also has GymKit equipment. As an Apple nerd first and a person who wants to workout second, GymKit equipment is super encouraging. For everyone else with an Apple Watch, it’s the best way to sync up workout data, like heart rate, distance, and calories, that might not otherwise be available or accurate.

Apple reveals ‘push notification spying’ by foreign governments, after open letter

Push notification spying | Notifications on iPhone lockscreen

Update: Apple issued the following statement to 9to5Mac:

Apple is committed to transparency and we have long been a supporter of efforts to ensure that providers are able to disclose as much information as possible to their users. Under-screen Face ID | 9to5Mac render of later all-screen design

A new supply-chain report suggests that we could see an under-screen Face ID camera in the iPhone “after 2026,” using technology developed by LG Innotek.

It’s likely that the tech would initially be used for Face ID only, but would be a stepping stone toward a later true all-screen design, with the front-facing camera similarly embedded beneath the screen …

Apple Music collaborative playlists not coming in iOS 17.2, likely due to abuse and spam problems

How to use Apple Music collaborative playlists

One of the headlining features of the first iOS 17.2 beta was support for Apple Music collaborative playlists. Apple then removed this feature with iOS 17.2 beta 4 last week, and unfortunately, it doesn’t return with today’s iOS 17.2 RC update.

This means that Apple Music’s collaborative playlists feature won’t debut in iOS 17.2 and has likely been delayed until 2024.
